What is Strategic?

It’s the opposite of your gut

To be honest, most bosses don’t understand strategic communication. There’s a famous quote from “Cool Hand Luke” where the villain states: “What we have here is a failure to communicate.” That’s often what’s in the mind of a boss. But more often than not, a failed communication effort is not a lack of communication but a lack of strategy. Let’s fix that.

My over twenty years experience in communications has been all about strategy. A strategy isn’t a series of things you do and hope the message gets out. A strategy is a well thought-out plan based on good research, planning, implementation and evaluation.
